How to Use This Template
This template creates a documented emergency action plan covering the most likely emergency scenarios at events: fire, gas leak, medical emergency, severe weather, power failure, security threat, and food safety incident. For each scenario, it sets out the immediate actions, who's responsible, evacuation procedures, emergency contacts, and how to communicate with event organisers and emergency services.
Fill in the specific actions for your operation. Where's your gas shut-off valve? Where are your fire extinguishers? Who calls 999? What's the assembly point? If you have staff, assign specific roles — one person shuts off gas, another alerts neighbouring traders, another calls the emergency number. Walk your team through it before the first event of the season.
An emergency action plan is a legal requirement if you employ anyone, and it's good practice regardless. When something goes wrong, panic and confusion make it worse. A clear, practised plan means everyone knows what to do without thinking. Keep a laminated copy visible in your unit and review it whenever your setup or team changes.
