How to Use This Template
This agreement covers the licensing of your photographs or video footage to a third party for specific commercial use. It includes the images being licensed (referenced by number, thumbnail, or description), the type of licence (exclusive or non-exclusive), permitted usage (print, digital, social media, advertising), territory (UK, worldwide), duration, fee structure (one-time or royalty-based), credit requirements, and restrictions on editing or sub-licensing.
Be precise about what's being licensed. "Non-exclusive digital use of 5 specified images for the client's website and social media accounts, UK territory, for 12 months" is a clear licence. "Use of photos" is not. Specify whether the client can crop, filter, or edit your images, and whether your photographer credit must be included when images are published.
Image licensing is how photographers monetise their work beyond the initial booking fee. Venues, wedding directories, and other vendors often want to use your images in their own marketing. This agreement ensures you get paid fairly, retain your copyright, and control how your work is used. Without it, images end up everywhere uncredited and uncompensated.
