Be explicit about who owns the images (usually the lead photographer), whether the second shooter can use images in their own portfolio, and how they should tag or credit your business on social media. Cover equipment responsibility — if they damage their own lens, that's their problem, but who's liable for your equipment if you lend it?
Second shooter disputes are common because expectations aren't set upfront. This agreement avoids the "but I assumed I could use those images on my website" conversation. It also clarifies the working relationship for tax purposes — a second shooter is typically a self-employed contractor, not an employee.
